What to Look For

Capacity (Wh): We group expansion batteries into three ranges: Small (under 1,000Wh), Medium (1,000–2,500Wh), and Large (2,500Wh+). Choose based on how much added runtime you need on top of your host station's existing capacity.

Compatibility: This is the most important factor. Expansion batteries are not universal — only add a pack that's explicitly supported by your power station's manufacturer, and that matches its required voltage. Don't mix brands, voltages, chemistries, or capacities unless the manual says you can.

Battery chemistry: Nearly all expansion batteries use LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate), valued for long cycle life and stability — typically 2,000–6,000+ cycles with proper care.

Weight: Capacity and weight scale together. Larger packs add significant runtime but are meaningfully heavier to move or install.

Expansion limits: Check how many packs your host station supports in total, and whether it requires matching state of charge before connecting multiple units in parallel.
